The Duluth Retriever Club recognizes the
broad needs of those in pursuit of training
hunting dogs. Our purpose is to
encourage conservation of game by the
development and training of hunting dogs
through educational programs and field
events.
DRC members will benefit in a variety of ways. Membership entitles you
access to our well-maintained training grounds, frozen game birds,
training, and a regularly published newsletter. Members are allowed to
discharge firearms on Club grounds year round, but remember, safety
first!
In addition, we encourage attendance at the monthly club meetings,
where members in attendance have a voice in running the club. You
may introduce new motions, nominate and vote for club officers, etc.
Guest speakers are invited periodically speaking on various topics.
Beginner trainers may benefit from membership by training with
seasoned veterans who have trained and handled several dogs.
Whether you are looking for a well-trained hunting companion or looking
to participate in AKC Field Trials or Hunt Tests, the benefits of training
with people who share the same goals is an invaluable resource.
Annual AKC Licensed Field Trials or Hunt Tests provide an opportunity
to observe or participate with some of the best retrievers in the country.
The field trial dogs perform awe-inspiring feats and serve as an
inspiration for those who appreciate the skill, grace & courage they
display. The hunt test dogs display their talents in a less competitive
venue, retrieving to AKC standards. No matter which you enjoy, we have
training groups that can help you and your dog attain your goals.
Finally, membership provides you with a common ground where people
of all ages, backgrounds, and experience can come together and
indulge in the one thing they have in common - a love for the dogs and
the outdoors.
